Energy Company Eneco UK Purchase Solar Farm
Renewable energy company, Eneco UK has today announced the purchase of 5 MW Oaklands Plantation solar farm in Dorset, from Good Energy Group PLC.
Supplying high profile companies around the UK, such as Mars, Heineken and Unilever, Eneco UK has made a firm commitment to producing and supplying sustainable energy and conceiving smart sustainable energy solutions. This latest acquisition will add to its existing portfolio of sustainable energy projects.
Eneco UK has been operating since 2008 in both solar and wind energy generation. Combined, it has a generating capacity of more than 200 MW.
The energy produced at the Oaklands Plantation solar farm will meet the demand of its growing business base. Good Energy Group PLC will continue to manage the day-to-day operation of the solar farm.
Speaking about the purchase, Eneco UK Country Director, Zoisa Walton said: “This is a significant acquisition for Eneco UK and demonstrates our continued commitment to creating sustainable partnerships and satisfying the growing business demand for renewable energy.”
The acquisition follows a successful 12 months for the Warwick-based sustainable energy company. Earlier this year the company entered a partnership with Co-operative Energy providing local householders with an exclusive 100% renewable electricity tariff using power generated from Eneco’s Lochluichart, Moy, and Tullo Wind Farms located in Inverness and Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
Juliet Davenport, OBE, Founder and CEO of Good Energy said: “Good Energy developed, constructed and has been operating the site since January 2016, showcasing the all-round strength of the Good Energy’s generation team’s capabilities.
“The sale of an operational solar site continues our strategy of selling and reinvesting to develop renewable assets. This is our first project with Eneco and we look forward to working with them as we manage this great site.”
